Dating in the Twin Cities • 07.04.06
Hey you single folks!
Or even those of you who’ve been attached for a while and need something to spice up your relationship…
I have ideas!
I was out with a friend on Sunday, and she mentioned having a date recently at Crema Cafe.
What a perfect “date” place.
Sometimes it’s fun to go out on dates that actually feel like real dates, not just “hanging out.”
It’s nice to know I’m on a date right now. There is no ambiguity in this situation. This is a date, not just two friends hanging out.
Believe me - this is especially helpful in the queer community - where do you draw the line between two friends and two folks on a date? It definitely gets tricky from time to time.
So, on that note, I give you summertime date activities/suggestions from a hopelessly romantic homo:
1) Tasty Treats at Crema Cafe (34th & Lyndale) - They have wine, desserts, ice cream, and a nice outdoor patio on which to eat (feels somewhat European and has a romantic atmosphere).
2) Paddle boating on Lake Como - I went paddle boating with my mom, two uncles, and one aunt yesterday and it was SO MUCH FUN. Only costs $15/hr and each paddle boat seats four. As my mom pointed out - “This way, you have to get to know each other - you’ve got nothing to do for that hour but chat and paddle around.” It’s super cute, you get exercise, and it’s fun. Trust me.
3) Walking (and holding hands) at the Walker Art Center’s Sculpture Garden - This one is a given. I’ve had numerous dates that have involved a trip to the Walker (outdoors, indoors, or both). It’s definitely a local date *hot spot.*
Ok.
There are three date suggestions for you.
I’ll add to the list as often as I get ideas (or suggestions - feel free to comment)!
Also, a big thanks to my friend, loyal blog reader Reanne, for noting that I was yesterday’s City Pages Blog of the Day.
Thanks, Reanne!
