Busy Afternoon
I had a busy day of shopping which included, but was not limited to:
* overhearing an exasperated mother cry out, “There are no kids shoes in ‘the cities!’ I have to go to Rochester to buy shoes for my kids!”
Note: Almost everyone I’ve met who grew up and/or lives outside of the twin cities (and has never lived within city limits), calls Minneapolis/St. Paul “the cities.” It grates on me.
*purchasing two pairs of shoes for just over $50 - not bad! Macy’s is having a good-sized shoe clearance sale - and if you buy two pairs of shoes, you get an extra 20% off your entire purchase.
*purchasing a handbag for 1/2 price (or less - I’m not sure of the exact percentage) at the Urban Junket Sample Sale, which continues tomorrow. I’d recommend it. Cool bags, reasonable discounts - I was tipped off to the sale via Girl Friday. Plus the wine-drinking women who helped me pick out my bag were pretty hilarious. Maybe all heterosexual women are like that? I don’t get out much. ;)
I also went to Crescent Moon for the first time and purchased a “Fruit Smoothie” (the only flavor is mango) and some pistachio baklava. The smoothie was tasty and the baklava was heavenly and light - not thick and chewy like some I’ve had in the past. I’d like to go back there for dinner sometime - I’ve never had Afghani food and their menu is definitely intriguing.

Oh, Crescent Moon! I love their pizza and their chai.
