Would you like some propaganda with your change?
I’m part of a 6-month research study at the U of M.
For that study, I have to undergo a number of clinic visits at the General Clinic Research Center (GCRC) at the U, and park in the hospital ramp.
As I was exiting the ramp today, I was kinda spooked (and amused) by the parking attendant.
He was Super Aryan Man TM, pasty with reddish hair, I’d say in his mid-30s.
He was extra chatty with a unique tone in his voice - that creepy tries to be soothing but is secretly a serial killer sort of way.
He asked me about my day, joked that it was too bad I had to pay for parking, gave me my change, paused, and then said, “Here - this is for you to read on your own time.”
He handed me a booklet titled “Life in a Peaceful New World.”
It has an Asian kid, two big pandas, a baby panda, a black kid, a white (blonde) girl with pigtails (CREEPY), some deer, and a lion with cubs on it. They’re in a grassy field under a shade tree, with mountains in the background on a blue-sky day.
The clothes are AWEsome. I need to scan it when I get home, as I can’t find the photo online. The “tract” was printed in 1987.
Woo Jehovah’s Witnesses.
I must’ve looked like I needed to be saved.
