Hip Hop is Alive and Kickin’ in Minneapolis!
Unfortunately, last night, hip hop lived at the Dinkytowner. I dare say it’s one of the worst venues in the twin cities to actually see a show.
That said, the show was great! Among those performing were Black Blondie, 4/10th of Doomtree, and Z-man (from San Fran).
I was definitely impressed by Black Blondie as well as the 4/10 of Doomtree (which included Dessa, Cecil Otter, and an amazing freestyling rapper/MC from L.A. whose name I don’t know offhand).
Z-man was not as impressive. In fact, he lipsynched the majority of his songs.
What a waste!
His energy was great, but the lipsynching was pathetic.

Uh, I don’t think Z-Man was lip synching. He did have his vocals doubled on the chorus. Rappers do this when they don’t have a “hype man” so that the chorus sounds fuller. I agree that it can make the dude look like he’s lip synching on everything but the chorus. I’m also pretty positive that Unicus wouldn’t book a dude that lip synched most of his set. Z-Man has been to the TC many times and has a pretty good rep around here. ;~P

I’m pretty sure Z-Man wasn’t lip synching. I think he just had a backing track on his choruses to make them sound fuller. Unicus wouldn’t book a dude who lip synchs most of their set.

Nope he lip-synched at least two of the songs, sadly - and badly.
